Meghan Debouk-Connors, jewelry designer and co-founder of Luna Jewels, traveled great distances to pursue her dream; to find a career which would suit her needs for creativity and challenge.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Meghan attended college in Lugano, Switzerland, where she studied Art and Language. She continued her education in Italy, studying jewelry design and metalsmithing at Valenza's renowned school. She lived there, working with Italian jewelry companies for several years, before returning to Hawaii.

During her European stay, Meghan met her future husband and partner, Andre Debouk. The two soon began a collaboration, founding their own jewelry design company, Luna Jewels. The combination of Meghan's drive for originality and Andre's classic European taste has created a unique look that is both elegant and contemporary.

The name Luna Jewels was inspired by Meghan and Andre's deep appreciation for the unique marvels of nature. "the word 'Luna' is Italian for 'moon', the eternal symbol of beauty and love. The moon also has an important mythological affinity with Pearls". Meghan prefers Tahitian Black Pearls because they possess a magical, captivating beauty.

Before any Luna Jewels creation takes shape, the pearls are carefully selected for exemplary attributes such as exceptional color. Tahitian Pearls can range in color, from pistachio to magenta and even purple! A design to suit each pearl's special qualities is chosen and the finished jewelry piece is as unique as the pearls themselves.

Designs created by Meghan Debouk-Connors have received numerous awards and recognition. The Honolulu Academy of Arts displayed her pieces in an exhibition of award winning jewelry. A photograph of these pieces graced the cover of the invitation to the show as well. One of those designs - shown here is "Traveling Star", which received an award for Black Pearl Jewelry in 1997.

"The design illustrates the fiery glow of a comet, with the centerpiece suspended on black silk cord to represent the nighttime sky." This piece is very special to Meghan, because it commemorates the birth of her first child, Devin, whose arrival coincided with the passage of the comet Hale-Bopp through the Hawaiian sky.
